3,000 Square Foot Facility Expands Company Support to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division
(Bridgeport, W.Va.) December 5, 2011 – Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] announced today it will open a new facility in Harrison County, signing a three-year lease to occupy 3,000 square feet (sf) of office space in Bridgeport, W.Va. The new facility will build on SAIC’s existing presence in Harrison County and will help the company better support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division in the North Central W.Va. area.
SAIC leadership, local business representatives and members of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce are expected to attend an open house event at the facility on Dec. 13 from 4 - 7 p.m.
SAIC has supported FBI CJIS Division programs for many years, including: launching the Interstate Identification Index (Triple I), the national computerized criminal history system; developing the National Instant Check System (NICS), which performs instant background checks of potential gun buyers; developing and enhancing the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), a national DNA database used in 262 domestic and foreign laboratories; and developing and operating the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) system, a secure online community that helps law enforcement at all levels fight crime.
SAIC is expanding its resources in W.Va. to strengthen its ability to effectively support the FBI CJIS Division contracts, including Program Management Support Services (PMSS), CJIS Operations and Maintenance Professional Services (COMPS), and the New National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). SAIC is currently a prime contractor on the Information Technology Supplies and Support Services (ITSSS) contract and will be better positioned to compete for task orders under the vehicle.
“SAIC has delivered many innovative and successful CJIS Division programs,” said John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “The expansion of resources in Bridgeport reflects our commitment to serving the FBI and will ensure that we are readily accessible, allowing for face-to-face collaboration to help them accomplish their critical missions.”
