SAIC Develops Strategic Technology Roadmap for Riverside Public Utilities
Utility Uses Integrated Technologies to Enhance Customer Experience
(McLEAN, Va.) June 5, 2013 – Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] is working with Riverside Public Utilities to develop a strategic technology roadmap that will define how the electric and water utility will use advanced information and operation technologies to provide reliable, environmentally friendly, and cost effective services to its 110,000 customers. Current evolution of technologies will allow the utility to improve its system operations, increase the efficiency and reliability of its electricity and water delivery, and allow its customers to manage their energy and water consumption and costs, while enjoying enhanced customer service. Through its “SmartRiverside” digital inclusion project, the city of Riverside is seeking to provide citywide access to digital technology for its residents. Riverside Public Utilities’ strategic technology roadmap will advance the capability of the utility to interact with its growing digital community and build a thriving technology center that will attract new businesses and jobs.
Throughout this project, SAIC will evaluate customer information systems, enterprise network architecture, service area wired and wireless communication networks, electric and water system control and data acquisition systems, operating data analytics, geographic information systems, cybersecurity, outage management, customer engagement, and office productivity platforms. Based on a gap analysis between a strategic technology vision and the current state of technology-based systems, SAIC and Riverside Public Utilities will develop a roadmap and action-oriented plan to identify the priorities, resources, costs, and benefits of technology deployments. The resulting strategic technology roadmap will guide the integration and deployment of information and operating technologies to achieve the utility’s strategic vision of being recognized as a unique community asset with a global reputation for innovation, sustainability, and an enhanced quality of life.
“At SAIC, we deliver real-world insights and recommendations to help utilities map out their advanced information and operations technologies for the future,” said Vice President Steve Rupp. “We are excited and look forward to working with Riverside Public Utilities on their strategic technology roadmap.”
“The strategic technology roadmap will identify processes and projects to enhance our operational efficiencies, improve reliability, and enhance the quality of life for residents of our community,” said David H. Wright, Riverside Public Utilities general manager.
