Aberdeen, Md. – The Aberdeen IronBirds, Class A short-season affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will honor all veteran and active duty branches of military on Thursday, June 23 for Military Appreciation Night presented by Leidos at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.

In recognition of all military for their service and commitment to our country, the IronBirds will debut its military-inspired camouflage jerseys, which will also be worn by the team on all "Military Saturday" home games throughout the 2016 season. Additionally, the first 1,200 fans through the gates at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium will receive an IronBirds camouflage T-Shirt courtesy of Leidos.

Game tickets for Military Appreciation Night, and throughout the season, will be offered at a discount to active duty military, retired military, military dependent, and government civilians with a valid ID. Leidos also donated 350 tickets to active duty military members, to be distributed by the IronBirds throughout the season.

"It's important that we take more than just one day to honor our military who continue to courageously serve and protect our country every day," said Brad Cox, assistant general manager, Aberdeen IronBirds. "We are proud to be working with Leidos to honor those currently deployed and the veterans who have laid their lives on the line to preserve our freedom."

As a season-long dedication to all military, the IronBirds and Leidos will unveil two reserved seats on June 23 that will remain vacant throughout the entire season – one purple chair will signify and honor all military that are currently deployed, and one black chair representing military personnel that have been listed as missing in action, killed in action or prisoner of war.

"We're excited to pay tribute to our veterans and active duty military for their commitment and service to our country," said Leidos Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Roger Krone. "It's critical that we take more than just a single night to honor the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to keep our nation safe."

Prior to first pitch on Military Appreciation Night, the IronBirds will also present Petty Office Heather Gavis of the U.S Navy with the Leidos "Hometown Hero" award, which honors members of the local community who have made a positive impact or difference through community engagement. "Hometown Heroes" nominations are open to public submissions through the IronBirds' Facebook page at Facebook.com/AberdeenIronBirds. Selected "Hometown Heroes" will receive two tickets to a future IronBirds game and an opportunity to take the lineup card out with the team's manager.
