Company Continues to Supports Fundraising for Paralyzed Veterans Employment Program
(Reston, Va.) June 6, 2014 – Leidos [NYSE: LDOS], a national security, health and engineering solutions company, continues its longstanding support of Paralyzed Veterans of America through sponsorship and volunteerism of the seventh annual Paralyzed Veterans’ Golf Open at the Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Va. The June 9th event supports Operation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment), which aims to end high unemployment for veterans, especially those with disabilities.
Operation PAVE assists veterans seeking employment by providing free one-on-one job counseling and placement assistance, and support to all veterans, their families, and their caregivers. It specializes in assisting disabled veterans seeking to re-enter the workforce, and works with local employers committed to hiring veterans to identify qualified employment candidates. Last year’s event raised more than $400,000 for Operation PAVE and helped open new vocational rehabilitation centers in San Antonio, Tex., Augusta, Ga., Tampa, Fla., and Chicago, Ill. Funds raised this year will go towards growing the program and supporting services that are provided free to all veterans.
“It’s been fantastic to see our relationship with Paralyzed Veterans of America grow over the past several years,” said Barbara Doornink, senior vice president and operations manager. “Between the PVGO and upcoming National Veterans Wheelchair Games this summer, Leidos is able to support Paralyzed Veterans of America on a larger scale and help make a greater impact in the lives of heroic veterans.”
“We thank Leidos for their support at this year’s golf open,” said Bill Lawson, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “Their commitment to hiring veterans and assisting Operation PAVE will go a long way to support our returning troops who have sacrificed so much.”
